Attract a National Sponsor for Child Rescue Network

How can Child Rescue Network create a strategy to attract a national sponsor for their seminars to educate parents on how to protect their children? What would this strategy look like? CHALLENGE DETAILS: Safety Seminars raise awareness of the reality that exists. 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 7 boys will be sexually victimized by the age of 18! The number of victims is staggering, but the great news is that we can make a dramatic impact. Education is the key. So the CRN program focuses on teaching parents about the rewards of building confident children, teaching kids about boundaries and how to react when one is crossed. We explain some of the lures predators utilize and provide specific actions that kids can take to help them make better decisions when faced with a potentially dangerous situation. Child Rescue Network has the structure in place to be able to provide this safety program around the country. The challenge is to generate the funding to support the program to be able to provide it free of charge to parents nationwide. It's a perfect fit for a corporate sponsor, if there was a successful strategy in place to attract one.

ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW: Child Rescue Network is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit missing and victimized children’s organization dedicated to dramatically lowering the number of children abused by sexual predators. Our main focus is to raise awareness and to educate parents on specific actions they can take to build confidence and empower their children, to help them recognize potentially dangerous situations and how to react if the need arises. Over the last 6 years, the results of the CRN Safety Seminar have been phenomenal. 96% of the attending parents have expressed in a follow up survey that because of what they learned through CRN they changed the way they protect their kids.

    I think that your best fit corporate sponsor is going to be Toys "R" Us because their main business focus is children. Here is their mission statement:

    The core philanthropic mission of Toys“R”Us, Inc. and the Toys“R”Us Children’s Fund is to keep children safe and help them in times of need.

    I think this fits perfectly with your mission. I would pursue this avenue by starting at this page:

    1) You might try to contact a cereal company like Kellogs and ask them to support your program either through direct donations or through some sort of "send in the box top" campaign where they donate a dollar to your organization if the parent sends them to box top or a register on line type campaign.

    2) Create a multi-level one time or re-occurring payment donation where a person or company can donate *example: $10,000 earns a "Golden Angel" status, $5,000 earns an "Angel" status, etc. The donors and corporate sponsor companies would receive recognition based on the level of financial support *example: $25,000 gets your corporate logo listed in all advertising and web site as a program supporter.

    3) Team up with YMCA or YWCA and they may provide a convenient safe place to hold the workshops at no charge to your organization. They would also likely help promote your organization at their locations.

    4) There are many professional fundraising companies that exist for the purpose of taking the fundraising tasks off your hands so you can focus on your real goals. afpnet.com is a website that is a professional association for these types of companies.

    5) Team up with a national TV station like Fox or ABC to help get the word out and do some fundraising for you.

    6) go to http://www.scholastic.com/resources/article/companies-that-care-about-kids and it will give you a list of companies which already do things for children, from experience I've found that typically if a company supports one type of cause, they may be more receptive to supporting others as well.

    7) check out ebay giving works program. They may be able to set up your charity with a program where sellers donate a dollar amount or percentage of the final sale to select organizations.

    Target national sponsors that might benefit somehow from associating with the service.

    For example:

    A cell phone service provider. ATT has an optional service to help family members locate each other (at least with the iphone).

    You might find a partner-sponsor in the AdCouncil with respect to tying in with camping safety and the National Parks System.

    Hotel chains may be another place to target. Think of places that involve families, especially where their children might be vulnerable and it would be in the interest of the sponsor to be promoting this.

    Are there any certain kind of sponsors you had in mind for this challenge? Could you post some qualifications to give some idea as to the type of strategies that would work best?
